What is Bikram Yoga?
The Bikram Yoga series is a challenging, 90-minute workout that improves physical strength, flexibility, and balance while enhancing mental clarity and focus. The practice is a sequence of 26 postures, including two breathing exercises performed in a heated environment.
He heat accelerates the rate of change within the body, improves circulation, helps to eliminate toxins and significantly reduces the risk of injury during stretching. No special equipment, props or clothing is required.
The Bikram Series was tailored for Western person and specifically for our cultural problems of job stress, overeating, bad posture and aggressive lifestyles. Bikram scientifically formulated and demonstrated yoga’s ability to regenerate tissue and cure chronic ailments. With an exact technique and a series of fixed poses, the class will bring health and peace of mind.
In the time you’ll learn to focus your mind and control your breath, leading you to work harder, deeper and calmer. As you improve this relationship, you will realize the true meaning of yoga: a union of the body, mind and spirit.

Studio Information
Bikram Yoga Glastonbury is equipped with dressing rooms and showers for your convenience. Though we do ask that you keep your shower use as short as possible as a consideration to the other students.
Space in the class is on a first come, first serve basis.
Wear clothes that you feel comfortable sweating in. Many participants are comfortable in lycra shorts and a jog bra or tee shirt. Bring a towel, mat, and plenty of water. Please arrive with an empty stomach. Laugh, sweat, and have fun!
The studio is locked during all class periods, but please be advised to keep valuables with you in the Yoga Room.
Instructors
Shelley Jansen is the Bikram Yoga Glastonbury studio director. She has studied with Bikram Choudhury; completing his 9 week intensive training which consisted of over 500 hours of yoga practice, posture clinics, and lectures. A Glastonbury native, Shelley has returned to town to share her passion for Bikram Yoga.
All Bikram Yoga Glastonbury instructors have been certified by Bikram Choudhury and the Yoga College of India. |
Reminders
First timers - please come to class 15 minutes early.
Wear light and comfortable clothing.
All ages, genders, and fitness levels welcome.
Please don't eat for two hours before a session.
Bring a towel, mat and water, or rent a towel or mat from the studio.
